Magnesium is lighter and stronger than aluminum and steel. This unique property is fueling the growth of the magnesium Industry in the 21th century. Worldwide production has nearly doubled in the past 10 years and many industry experts expect the magnesium industry to continue to grow for the foreseeable future.
 

In 2010, worldwide magnesium production has exceeded 800,000 metric tons.  Currently China supplies over 80% of the world's production, making China the world’s largest magnesium producer.
